Warner Archive Collection is offering William Wellman’s Safe in Hell (1931) on DVD.
It’s a great pre-Code tropical romp with Dorothy Mackaill playing Gilda, a New Orleans prostitute on the lam for a murder rap. I won’t spoil anything, but the ending was completely unexpected, a real stunner. Great cast including Nina Mae McKinney.

I hadn't heard of it either until I saw it a couple of years ago. I'd only seen Mackaill in supporting parts before this, she's really good.
